Golden Triangle Emergency Center Orange invites children in K–5 grade to participate in our 10th Annual Coloring Contest. This yearly tradition is a fun way for students to show their creativity while celebrating Valentine’s Day with our community.
A coloring sheet is attached for each student to complete. Children are encouraged to color the page however they would like.
How to Enter
To participate, please follow these steps:
- Download and print the attached coloring page
- Have the student color the page creatively
- Clearly write the following information on the artwork:
- Child’s name
- School
- Gender
- Grade

9th Annual Coloring Contest
Golden Triangle Emergency Center Orange invites children in K-5th grade to participate in our 9th annual coloring contest. Each student can color however they would like. Please return the artwork to Golden Triangle Emergency Center Orange (3107 Edgar Brown Drive Orange TX 77630) by Monday March 10th with the child’s name, school, gender, and grade legible.
There will be a boy and a girl winner from k-1, 2-3 and 4- 5 grade. The winners will be announced on Thursday March 13th. Each winner will receive a basket filled with goodies that can be picked up at Golden Triangle Emergency Center in Orange.
Celebrating 5 Years Serving the Golden Triangle
Golden Triangle Emergency Center is celebrating five-years of providing Mid-County with top quality emergency medical care. Golden Triangle Emergency Center was the first free-standing emergency center in mid-county, a service made all the more crucial after the recent closure of St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur. We would like to thank the community for their use of the facility and belief in our company, we would not have made it five years if it were not for this communities’ support.
In the five years that Golden Triangle Emergency Center-Port Arthur has been proud to serve the community with charity programs, school presentations, assistance with emergency relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Each Year GTEC-Port Arthur also provides scholarships for an RN and LVN students from Lamar State College Port Arthur semi- annually. GTEC’s Marketing Director Kari Busch was awarded the Ambassador of the Year 2018 for her involvement in the community and with the chamber. GTEC is a huge asset to the community and hopes to continue to be able to serve the community for many more years to come.

GTEC-Port Arthur spring 2019 LVN & RN scholarship winners
GTEC works with Lamar State College-Port Arthur to encourage students with a proven academic record of excellence and a passion for healthcare to apply for these scholarships. In order to ensure that the community will be supported by the highest caliber of healthcare professionals, Golden Triangle Emergency Center invests in future generations of stand-out students by offering this scholarship twice a year; fall and spring semester.
The winner of the $250 LVN scholarship is Melanie Morton of Nederland, Texas. Melanie has been serving others since she was in middle school through mission trips and volunteering with her church. More recently she has volunteered her time as a swim instructor at the Shorkey Center for physical and occupational therapy and rehabilitation for children, and at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in the NICU department. Her passion for providing support and care to others is intensified by her first-hand experience of the profound difference a compassionate caregiver can make to a patient and their family. Her enthusiasm, background, and dedication to her goals make her the ideal recipient for this award. Melanie plans to continue her education upon graduation and pursue a Bachelor’s and then her Master’s degree.
The $500 RN scholarship winner is Afrania C. Davila of Port Arthur, Texas. A Cum Laude graduate of Lamar State College-Port Arthur’s LVN program, Afrania is pursuing her BSN in the Upward Mobility Nursing Program. Afrania knew she wanted to go into health care because when she was just 15 years old, she saved her sister’s life by staying calm and performing CPR on her after she suffered a seizure. Her natural ability to focus and listen to the 911 operator’s instructions despite the chaos around her that was the deciding factor in her career path. Afrancia’s passion for clinical care is matched with the emphasis she puts on empathy and compassion with her patents. With clinical experience at St. Elizabeth, Medical Center of SETX, Baptist Hospital, and The Meadows of orange, along with excellent grades, Afrancia is a standout student and future RN. Upon graduation, she plans to seek employment in the ER or NICU and is keeping the door of possibility open to pursuing her Master’s.
Golden Triangle Emergency Center is proud to see the hard work going into the applicants’ education and looks forward to seeing them enrich the local workforce. Scholarship recipients must submit an 800 word essay, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and submit a resume illustrating a passion for the profession. RN and LVN Scholarships Spring 2019
Golden Triangle Emergency Center is offering a Scholarship to an LVN and RN student from both Lamar State College Port Arthur and Lamar State College Orange.
To apply you must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing Program or the Licensed Vocational Nursing program, have at least a 3.0 GPA, submit a transcript, resume, and 800 word essay describing why you should be chosen for this award, why you chose nursing for your career and your plans for the future upon graduation.
Application deadline is April 24th for Orange and April 26th for Port Arthur. The LVN winners will receive $250 and the RN winners will receive $500. Good Luck
Orange Celebrates a 4-Year Anniversary
Golden Triangle Emergency Center is celebrating four-years of providing the city of Orange with top quality emergency medical care, a service made all the more crucial after the closure of the emergency wing of Baptist Orange Hospital at the beginning of 2017. We would like to thank the community for their use of the facility and belief in our medical team. We would not have made it four years without this communities’ support.
In the four years that Golden Triangle Emergency Center-Orange has been proud to serve the community with charity programs, school presentations, and assistance with emergency relief efforts in the wake of the Deweyville flood and Hurricane Harvey. Each Year GTEC-Orange also provides scholarships for RN and LVN students from Lamar State College Orange. GTEC was recognized and awarded the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce Business Community Service of the Year Award in 2016 for their commitment and service to the community. Even when our own facility flooded during Hurricane Harvey, we were back on our feet after only one month, serving our community when they needed it most.

Golden Triangle Emergency Center gives an annual Employee of the Year Award per facility. To receive this distinguished award, we look for employees who go above and beyond their job requirements. These individuals are always looking for a way to better themselves, the people around them and this company. These individuals have done just that. They embody the core values of dedication, compassion, and professionalism that define the Golden Triangle team. Whether it’s through their outstanding work ethic, their commitment to patient care, or their leadership in fostering a positive workplace culture, these exceptional employees consistently set the standard for excellence. It is with great pride that we honor these individuals for their extraordinary contributions and celebrate their accomplishments.
Golden Triangle Emergency Center Port Arthur would like to congratulation Michelle Dixon on being their Employee of the Year. She is Lead Patient Representative and her job entails: quality patient care, overseeing of front desk employees, scheduling, lead meetings for front desk, custodial of medical records, patient advocate, calculate payment information and accept funds, hiring, and input patient information. Michelle has been with the company since July 2014. She goes above and beyond for this company to make other employees and patients happy and taken care of to her best ability.
Michelle is a Mom of two boys and has 4 amazing little grand babies. She likes to socialize, spend time with her family, relaxing, listening to music, dancing and working with her work family. Michelle graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Port Arthur and went on to college at Lamar Port Arthur. She is the founder and president of Ebony Misses Social Club who spend time helping out in the community and doing events with other women.
Golden Triangle Emergency Center Orange would like to congratulation Jenna Mueller on being their employee of the year. By trade Jenna is a paramedic and at GTEC her job entails: quality patient care, lab lead, medication administration, diagnostic testing, and making sure everyone is prepared to do their job by creating packets and making sure everything is up to date. Jenna has been with the company Since October 2014 and just accepted the position of lab lead in January this year. She goes above and beyond for this company to make other employees and patients happy and taken care of. Jenna is a big promoter of Golden Triangle Emergency Center and just recently became a certified CPR instructor.
Jenna is a Mom of two beautiful little girls and has been married to her husband Mark for 5 years. Mark is a Fireman for Port Arthur and they met on a wreck scene. She is a chicken mom and likes to do crafting, go bike riding and pulling her kids in the bike trailer, spending time with her family, go to concerts, travel and be outside. She has two dogs named Courage and Chrissy and cat name Lulu. She graduated from West Orange Stark High School and went to LIT to complete her Paramedic certification after she went on to help teach EMT basics at LIT. She is a volunteer member of the Buna Fire department and helped start up Kirbyville first responders’ program.
Golden Triangle Emergency Center Beaumont would like to congratulate Hazel Beard on being the Employee of the Year. By trade she is an ER Tech and at GTEC her job entails: quality patient care, evaluate and monitor patients, run diagnostic tests, restock the rooms and equipment, make sure everyone is prepared to do their daily job. She has been with the company Since July 2014 and has worked at all 3 facilities. She goes above and beyond for this company to make other employees and patients happy and taken care of to her best ability. Hazel is such a go getter that this is her second time to receive Employee of the Year.
Hazels nickname is GIG because she is the grandma, we all look up to and her grandkids love to call her that. She a mother 5; four boys and one girl. She has 6 grandkids and another one on the way. She loves hunting fishing, yardwork and just being outside. Gigi graduated from Lumberton High School and went on to become certified through Christus, where her career started. Hazel takes care of her ageing mother in law and helps watch her grand babies all the time. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful person to work for Golden Triangle Emergency Center.
All three of these women are more than deserving of this award, and Golden Triangle Emergency Center couldn’t ask for better employees. Each of them received a beautiful crystal award and a monetary gift from their respective facility as a token of appreciation. Thank you, ladies, for all of your hard work and the unwavering leadership you bring every day. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment do not go unnoticed and are a vital part of what makes Golden Triangle Emergency Center the best it can be. Your efforts inspire those around you and elevate the entire team, setting a standard that encourages others to strive for greatness. Employee of the Quarter: Ariane Williams
To receive this distinguished award we look for an employee who goes above and beyond their job requirements. Someone who is always looking for a way to better themselves, the people around them, and this company. This individual has done just that.
We would like to congratulate Ariane Williams on being the employee of the quarter. She is and RN and the Charge Nurse for GTEC Port Arthur. Her job entails: quality patient care, medication administration, diagnostic testing, clinical coordinator, schedule creation and maintenance, staff liaison to the clinical director, and team lead. She has been with the company for 3 ½ years and was promoted to the position as charge nurse in March of 2018. She goes above and beyond for this company to make other employees and patients happy and taken care of to her best ability. She has created a special menus for our patients with diabetic and cardiac restrictions and continues to find ways to improve Golden Triangle Emergency Center.
Ariane is a mom of one beautiful little girl named Penelope. She loves to drink wine, do embroidery, yoga, and watch horror movies. She has one cat named Waffle and a dog named Pearl. She graduated from Nederland High School and went on to Lamar Orange for her LVN and ADN and then to Lamar Beaumont for her BSN. Ariane loves to be outside and travel as well as decorate her body in beautiful pieces of art.
Upon receiving this award, the employee will receive a certificate of recognition, their picture hung on the “Wall of Fame”, their own parking space for 90 days, 12 hours of paid time off, and their name is considered for employee of the year. Congratulations again Ariane!
GTEC Awards Joanne Tapia the Fall 2018 Lamar State College Port Arthur RN Scholarship
Golden Triangle Emergency Center is happy to support the next generation of top-tier medical professionals. Each semester we award scholarships to nursing students who display a drive, commitment and dedication to the nursing profession. In order to be eligible for our Lamar State College Lamar State College Port Arthur RN Scholarship applicants had to write an 800-word essay describing why they want to become RNs, their plans for the future, and why they feel they should be considered for the award. Additionally, applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA and be enrolled full time in the program.
GTEC is delighted to announce that we have selected Joanne Tapia as the fall 2018 winner of our Lamar State College Lamar State College – Port Arthur RN Scholarship.
Joanne Tapia was awarded a $500 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center’s Port Arthur facility on Tuesday, October 30th. Joanne realized her calling in nursing as a result of her mother’s battle with epigastric cancer. Joanne was by her mother’s side throughout the ordeal and it fell to her to translate the doctors’ and nurses’ words into her mother’s native language. This in turn helped her realized the need for bilingual nurses.
“By being a nurse, I knew I was not just going to help her but many more people who needed care, reassurance or guidance. Unfortunately, my mother passed away in the year of 2014, due to epigastric cancer, although it was heartbreaking for me I decided to continue pursuing my career in nursing for her and my community.”
We laud Joanne’s dedication and we also want to note that this is her second time applying for the scholarship, thus further demonstrating her dedication to achieve her goals. She wants to let everyone who applies know not to give up if they aren’t selected for a scholarship the first time because they might have more success the next time! We are please to award Joanne this $500 RN scholarship and are excited to see what the future holds for her.

GTEC Announces the Fall Winners of the Lamar State College Orange Nursing Scholarships
Golden Triangle Emergency Center is pleased to support the next wave of skilled nursing professionals by providing four scholarships yearly to students at Lamar State College Orange who are enrolled full time in a Registered Nursing (RN) Program or a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program and who meet all the requirements of our scholarship program including a 3.0 or higher GPA and an 800-word essay describing why the applicant has chosen nursing as their career, their future plans after graduation, and why they feel they should be awarded the scholarship.
Today we are happy to announce the fall 2018 winners: Darlene Kunze and Kerstin Richard.
Darlene Kunze Is GTEC’s 2018 Fall Semester LVN Scholarship Recipient from Lamar State College -Orange
Darlene Kunze was awarded a $250 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center’s Orange facility on Friday, October 19th. Darlene been a Certified Medical Assistant and five years ago began taking classes to advance to the next stage of her career and become an LVN. She is raising her two grandchildren, Jordan 10 and Shayla 14, and notes that they provide the inspiration for everything she does. Darlene has also overcome addiction and has eleven years of sobriety. She models this positive transformation to her adult daughter who is also working to turn her life around.
“Daily I continue to show my daughter that anything is possible with dedication and really hard work. She has made 7 months clean and sober by the grace of God and there is hope for her still. I first began a career in the medical field not knowing that I would even have an opportunity to make my dream come true. As the years went by I have continued to pick up more skills, and knowledge and confidence.”
We are very impressed by all that Darlene has achieved and we are confident that she has a bright future ahead of her as an LVN and are delighted to award her a $250 scholarship.
Kerstin Richard Is GTEC’s 2018 Fall Semester RN Scholarship Recipient from Lamar State College -Orange
Kerstin Richard was awarded a $500 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center’s Orange facility on Monday, October 21st. Kerstin became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2014 upon graduating high school and immediately enrolled in the LVN program at Lamar State College – Orange, which she completed in 2016. Now an LVN she is attending classes to become an RN. She worked as an LVN at a nursing home until Hurricane Harvey damaged the facility. Kerstin stayed onsite until all her patients were rescued and safe.
“I stayed at the facility for four nights and five days. Those were the longest days of my life, but I was glad I was able to help my patients and keep them safe. That was definitely a nightmare I will never forget.”
Meanwhile, Kerstin was also facing flooding at her home. Through it all Kerstin persevered and soon found a new job at a cardiologist’s office. We are pleased to assist her on the next leg of her journey with a $500 scholarship.
