Golden Triangle Emergency Center is pleased to support the next generation of skilled nursing professionals by providing four scholarships yearly to students at both Lamar State College Orange and Lamar State College Port Arthur. These students must be enrolled full time in a Registered Nursing (RN) Program or a Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) Program and who meet all the requirements of our scholarship program including but not limited to a 3.0 or higher GPA, two letters of recommendation, and an 800-word essay describing why the applicant has chosen nursing as their career, their future plans after graduation and why they feel they should be awarded the scholarship. We would like to thank all of the students who turned in scholarship applications and congratulate the fall winners!
GTEC’s 2019 Fall Semester LVN Scholarship Recipient from Lamar State College Port Arthur is Morgan Gitter
Morgan was awarded a $250 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center on Monday, November 4th. Morgan is the oldest of eight siblings and her mom has always worked nights leaving much of the responsibility of care for her siblings to her. She has been working as a CNA to help pay for school and contribute to her family.
“I believe that being a big sister and the level of responsibility I grew up with have both had a great influence on my desire to care for others…My ultimate goal is to keep climbing the ladder, to ADRN, BSN, Master’s degree and then ultimately Doctorate degree to be a Nurse Practitioner.”
“I have always wanted to do for others and bestow kindness upon those whom I come in contact with.”
We are very impressed by all that Morgan has achieved and we are confident that she has a bright future ahead of her as an LVN and beyond. We are delighted to award her a $250 scholarship.
GTEC’s 2019 Fall Semester RN Scholarship Recipient from Lamar State College Port Arthur is Caitlin Hoepfner
Caitlin was awarded a $500 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center on Monday, November 4th. Caitlin is in the final semester of her RN program and an excited first-time expecting mother. Originally Caitlin was going to school to become a dental hygienist but after much contemplation and encouragement from her Aunt she decided to give nursing a try.
“Being able to care for the elderly and help them meet their needs truly touched my heart.”
“One of the things I love about nursing is the options are endless. If you get tired of a certain area or feel like it’s not for you, you can find something new and exciting to make you fall in love with your career all over again.”
Caitlin would like to one day work in the Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, or NICU units because during her clinical rotations she felt like caring for these patients gave her a feeling of fulfillment. We hope that Caitlin will continue to work towards her bachelor’s degree in nursing and wish her luck in the next leg of her journey. Congratulations on being the RN scholarship recipient.
GTEC’s 2019 Fall Semester LVN Scholarship Recipient from Lamar State College -Orange is Rachel Leach
Rachel was awarded a $250 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center Orange on Wednesday, November 6th. Rachel is a full time student and a part time cashier at Kings Pharmacy. She has been taking classes at Lamar State College Orange since she was a junior in high school (dual credit). She knew that by attending LSCO she could stay close to home, it would be cost efficient, and she would get more one on one training from the teachers. She cannot wait to be a nurse and her future goal is to become a nurse anesthetist (CRNA).
“My mom had a brain aneurysm… and I knew in that moment that I wanted to become a nurse and be able to help my loved ones and future patients by knowing signs and symptoms of heath emergencies.”
“I believe college is an investment and worth every penny.”
We are very impressed by all that Rachel has achieved and we are confident that she has a bright future ahead of her. Congratulations Rachel on being the Fall 2019 LVN Scholarship recipient.
