She prides herself on her work ethic and described her desire to become a nurse:

“I have been interested in becoming a nurse ever since I was a child. I have always had a deep empathy for others. This has given me the passion to pursue a career that I can help heal people physically with my skills, and emotionally with my compassion.”

This amazing sentiment is further backed up by her strong GPA and scholastic record. GTEC is confident that Kiara will make an excellent LVN and we are delighted to award her a $250 scholarship.

Naomi Williams the RN Scholarship recipient from Lamar State College -Orange

Naomi Williams RN 3-18
Naomi Williams was awarded a $500 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center’s Orange facility. Naomi is currently an LVN and is enrolled in the RN program at Lamar State College Orange. She is a wife and the mother of a young boy, whom she gave birth to only one day after completing a summer class. Naomi has faced numerous hardships in her life including the flooding of her home. However she has not let adversity derail her progress toward her goal of becoming an RN. She is eager to work in a hospital setting and had the following to say:

“When I become a RN in December 2018, I would like to work at the hospital and serve others there. This semester in clinical I was very drawn to the hospital setting and hope that I can acquire a job possibly in the ER upon graduation.”

After already overcoming so much, we are confident that Naomi’s dream of becoming a hospital RN will come to fruition. We are pleased to award her a $500 scholarship.

Caitlin Hoepfner the LVN Scholarship recipient from Lamar State College -Port Arthur

Caitlin H LVN 3-18
Caitlin Hoepfner was awarded a $250 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center’s Port Arthur facility. Caitlin is enrolled in the LVN program at Lamar State College Port Arthur. After completing the LVN program she plans to work toward becoming an RN. She is excited about the many different areas of nursing from labor & delivery to hospice care and was heavily influenced by the birth of her nephew and the passing of her grandfather and the high quality of care they received at these vastly different phases of life. She had this to say about her dream of becoming a nurse:

“I have such a passion for helping people, with a huge heart to go with it. I want to be an advocate and a voice for my patients. I want to help them in any way I can and I want them to trust me. I love seeing the patients eyes light up just from me sitting there and listening to them talk, sometimes all they need is someone to talk to.”

After completing her studies, Caitlin is considering a career as a labor & delivery nurse and we know that if she does pursue this direction she will excel at it. We are pleased to award her a $250 scholarship.

Sara Castro the RN Scholarship recipient from Lamar State College-Port Arthur

Sara Castro RN 3-18
Sara Castro was awarded a $500 scholarship from Golden Triangle Emergency Center’s Port Arthur facility. She works full time as an LVN at the Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin Texas while also enrolled in the RN program at Lamar State College Port Arthur. Sara has been married to her husband for sixteen years and they have a teen and pre-teen daughters. Sara knew from a very young age that she was destined to become a nurse and has a memory of announcing that decision to her classmates in kindergarten when she was only five years old. Her resolved was strengthened in her twenties when her grandfather had a massive heart attack and died. She made a promise to herself that one day she would be a nurse who could make a difference in the life of someone who was sick and dying. She had this to say about her life’s purpose:

“I know now that my purpose is to be the best person I can be, to be the most loving and caring nurse I can be, and to be a major role model for my girls so that they can grow up to be smart young women ready to take on the world.”

Caitlin works a full-time job and is a full-time student and credits her husband as being her rock and helping her make her dreams a reality. We are excited to see what the future holds for Caitlin as she becomes an RN and we are pleased to award her $500 scholarship.
