At Golden Triangle Emergency Center we pride ourselves on our team of first-class doctors, nurses, and medical staff. We also realize the importance of supporting the next generation of nursing professionals. That is why every year we award nursing scholarships to hardworking students in our communities. We are proud to announce that we are now taking applications for our 2016 nursing scholarships.
Scholarships for LVN and RN Students
We have scholarships in place for both LVN and RN students. To be eligible students must be enrolled in either a Licensed Vocational Nursing Program or a Registered Nursing Program at Lamar State College – Orange or Lamar State College – Port Arthur. Additionally applicants must meet the requirements discussed below. We will be awarding scholarships for both the Port Arthur and Orange branches of Lamar State College in both programs. The LVN scholarship will be $250.00 and the RN scholarship will be $500.00.
Application Deadline and Requirements
The deadline to turn in your applications along with your essays, for either the LVN or RN scholarship, will be Friday, October 14th. Applicants should meet the following requirements to be considered for a scholarship:
- Applicants must be enrolled full time in an LVN or RN program
- Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0
- Applicants must submit an official school transcript
- Applicants must submit a resume
- Applicants must submit an 800-word essay.
- Applicants must complete and submit everything no later than Friday, October 14th to be considered.
The essay should detail the applicant’s reasons for choosing a career in nursing, why they feel they should be considered for a scholarship from GTEC, and what their plans are after graduation. Applications and essays should be submitted to the nursing department heads at either Lamar State College – Orange or Lamar State College – Port Arthur, depending on where the applicants are enrolled.
Scholarship Announcement and Presentation
Winners of the 2016 LVN and RN scholarships will be announced on Friday, October 24th and there will be an awards presentation by Angela Webb R.N., B.S.N., C.E.N.
